The Samsung Omnia is by far the best Windows Mobile handset they have made so far, we reviewed it a few weeks ago, well the downside for our US friends was again the lack of 3G bands for them to benefit from fast data speeds. According to Modaco, T-Mobile are now selling the 8 Gig version of the Samsung Omnia, that means you now have a choice of three networks if your considering picking up this hot Windows Mobile phone in the UK. Orange have exclusivity on the 16 Gig version and Vodafone are also selling the 8 Gig version. It is not on T-Mobiles site as of yet but they are taking orders over the phone.

There seems to be a lot going on in the Windows Mobile world at the moment and we are finding ourselves inundated with great new devices to play with. This one is no exception, the Samsung i900 Omnia is a fantastic looking Windows Mobile Professional device but does it live up to all the hype and the tag of potential iPhone killer. Various reports are popping up about the impending availability of the Samsung i900 Omnia on Orange and Vodafone in the UK. According to Coolsmartphone Orange have it in stock now and Vodafone will shortly follow. This is good news as this looks like a really great Windows Mobile device. We should have one next week for review and maybe this device will sway me from the iPhone 3G.

WMExperts have posted a must watch video of the Samsung i900 Omnia software in action and the more I see of this Windows Mobile device the more I like the look of it. One thing that stands out for me is the fluidity of the touch screen. It looks so easy to use and the flicks and gestures work all the time. They do mention that you have to use firm presses to get it to respond but once you are used to that it is fine. Also Opera 9.5 looks made for this large screened device. Just received another update from Superetrader and they tell me they will have free stock of the Samsung Omnia i900 from the 11th August which is a week on Monday 7 days earlier than first announced. I will be getting one and I am really looking forward to doing a very detailed review of this Windows Mobile Professional device as it fits my needs perfectly. I will be doing a lot of comparisons with the iPhone 3G along with HSDPA speed tests and usability tests. The Unwired have posted a brilliant video showing the final Rom Samsung will use for its unbranded and SIM-free i900 Omnia. Unlike the previous hands-on video The Unwired showed us, which was made with a SGH-i900 prototype running a Beta software, this videoview now shows you how the final software will look and work.

Just had a tip off from from online supplier www.superetrader.co.uk that they will have stock of the Samsung Omnia i900 for delivery from the 18th August. You can register your interest now and they will let you know as soon as it is available for delivery. They will also be offering a bundle with Route 66 sat nav software as part of the package. But even better we are first on the list to get a review unit. Also confirmed, the 16 Gig version will not be coming to the UK and will be a US only release. According to GSM Arena the Samsung Omnia will be launched in Italy on the 22nd July and will be available in all major European countries and other GSM markets before the end of August. This looks like a great phone to us and we will be getting one in to review as soon as possible so watch this space. More details after the break.

The guys over at GSM Arena have managed to get hold of a pre-release Samsung Omnia. They have done a detailed head to head against the HTC Diamond with loads of great pictures and a fantastic write up. The Samsung i900 Omnia is still a beta version, while the HTC Touch Diamond is a retail unit. However, dozens of bugs are being reported for the Diamond recently, so it isn’t actually as stable as it should be. In fact, HTC are struggling to polish the Diamond performance, which - even though utterly impressive - is rather unfinished at its launch. Looks like HTC made haste to beat the iPhone 3G announcement.

The guys over at MobiFrance managed to get some hands on time with the new Samsung Windows Mobile Omnia i900 professional device.

Phonemag gets the scoop on the new Samsung Omnia. The Samsung OMNIA is powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional and comes packed with MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).  Even though the OMNIA is 100% touch screen, Samsung included an optical mouse for ease of navigation - the optical mouse is similar to what you’d find on laptops.
