Multi-touch arcade gaming is available at iPhone in many games, but this one is from Atari - the company that pioneered gaming industry! Here we present review of Missile Command for iPhone, that is a remake of old game for new platform.
Amazingly this game has 2 modes: retro (”Classic”) and advanced (”Ultra”). In retro mode user can play Missile Command in a form that it was available many many years ago (i.e. with simplified graphics):
Obviously the advanced (standard) mode of playing offers much higher quality of graphics:
As you can see above the topic of the game is invasion from the space: you have 3 big missile launch pads, from which you launch your missiles to shoot incoming missiles and alien spaceships. Interestingly you can use 2 or 3 fingers at once to initiate simultaneous launch of your missiles, i.e. this game takes advantage of multi-touch and in fervor of action, particularly when many missiles and spaceships are attacking you, multi-touch makes the difference!
Here are some other levels of the game:
Here are some instructions that appear on the screen from time to time:
When you are defeated by aliens then your whole planet is blowing up in this animation:
While this game has no multi-player mode, it can by played by 2 users simply by picking the user at the start (in settings). User can also select difficult level.
All in all this is a nice simple shooter game and you might enjoy it.
